Alex Norman to Texas, 3rd 2012 Longhorn Commit

While Johnathan Gray, Mario Edwards, and Alex De La Torre were known to be in Austin on Saturday, the day before the Texas Junior Day officially begins on Sunday, there was another visitor in town as well. Dallas Bishop Dunne DT Alex Norman wasn't on the radar as a possible Saturday commitment, but he was certainly on the radar for a commitment this weekend.

Despite some desperate late pursuit from Oklahoma, Norman committed to Texas on Saturday evening, becoming the third commitment in the class, following Denton Ryan linebacker Alex De La Torre earlier in the day and Chaparral (AZ) quarterback Connor Brewer, a Monday pledge.

The release of Norman's film on Friday was a revelation and after losing 55 pounds since his freshman season, Norman is now a 6-3, 275-pound beast in the middle. He's now explosive off the football and moves almost like a different person. It's a fantastic start to recruiting at the defensive tackle position and there's even starting to be some talk that he's the top defensive tackle in the class.
