There are now just two weeks left in the regular season and another week of conference tournaments before Selection Sunday on March 13th. The top teams are gunning for protected seeds in the these four regionals: Newark, New Orleans, San Antonio, and Anaheim.
The second and third round (the NCAA is now considering the play-in games round one) will be in Washington DC, Charlotte, Cleveland, Chicago, Tampa, Tulsa, Denver, and Tuscon.
Here are my ‘educated’ guesses at the top 16 teams in the NCAA tournament. With so many top teams falling in recent days, there has been a lot of movement near the top, and there is definitely room for multiple opinions.
I will start posting my top seeds on Mondays. These are (1) determined as if the season ended today and (2) listed by strength within each seed (e.g. Ohio State is the top one-seed, Kansas is the fourth one-seed).
No. 1: Ohio State, Pittsburgh, Texas, Kansas
No. 2: Duke, BYU, San Diego State, Purdue
No. 3: Notre Dame, Georgetown, Arizona, Wisconsin
No. 4: North Carolina, Florida, Villanova, Louisville
Next Four: Connecticut, Syracuse, Kentucky, Vanderbilt
Big 12 Bids (6)
Lock: Texas, Kansas
Highly Likely: Texas A&M, Missouri
On the Bubble: Kansas State, Nebraska
Bubble Burst: Baylor, Colorado
