2/21: Texas probably leads for Gray after he came down early for JD1 and received his offer Saturday, along with some face time with Major Applewhite and Manny Diaz at the basketball game. Some rumors he is a silent Texas commit. Visited Texas A&M for their "Elite" J-Day. No other visits scheduled. 2/7: The ESPN RISE National Player of the Year as a junior, Gray put his mark on another state championship game, scoring 8 TDs and racking up 320 yards. Ideal RB build, vision, and feet. Best 100m time of 10.58. Scouting report. Shoulder surgeries after each of last two seasons. Father played RB at Tech. |

2/21: Told Gerry Hamilton of Hookem.com on Monday night that he will not attend JD2. Not clear if that was his decision or if the coaching staff asked him to come in at a later time. 2/7: Short, powerfully built back who can break tackles, outrun defensive backs. Would fit well in zone-blocking scheme as more powerful version of Boise State's Jeremy Avery. Greg Davis would have passed because of concerns about bliz pick-up. Could make impact in return game. Off the board -- Tim Wright (LaMarque)
Other names to know -- Terrance Taylor (Diboll), Jonathan Williams (Allen)
Timetable --
- Johnathan Gray -- Gray could make his decision as early as this spring, but will likely wait to see more of the Texas offense, possibly in action during a spring practice or the spring game. Most likely will commit by the start of his senior season.
