Taylor Jungmann returns to UFCUDFF in what is hopefully his second-to-last start in Austin. The Horns used Augieball to score the game's first two runs without a hit last night then took advantage of a Tant Shepherd two run homer for a 5-3 victory. A victory tonight would put Texas in the driver's seat, needing just one more win in two tries to take the regional. The Horns are likely to see Andrew Chafin, who has started only 11 games but has been fairly good this season (7-1, 1.90 ERA, 2 CG, .193 BAA). Chafin was the Golden Flashes' closer in 2009 but sat out 2010 after Tommy John surgery. ESPN has Chafin ranked the #47th prospect and Baseball America ranks him 38th. You can read a profile on him here.
The loser of tonight's game will take on Texas State tomorrow and the winner will advance to the first elimination championship game. First pitch is at 6:30 PM, video is here and this is your open thread.
