Chat begins at 7:00 pm CT.
Texas ended their skid against ranked opponents on Saturday by beating #18 Texas Tech on the road. A big win in desperate situation. Mack Brown might not have been coaching for job on Saturday, but he was definitely coaching for respect.
Many had written off this season, but after the victory, hope persists. The Texas Defense finally showed up. Manny Diaz simplified his scheme, and his players responded. Carrington Byndom and Steve Edmond had their best games this season. Alex Okafor kept his stellar senior season going.
The Texas Offense was up and down, but did enough to win. Johnathan Gray hasn't emerged as a star jut yet, but he's an emerging feature back. Mike Davis was Magic as the go to receiver. David Ash played an excellent first half, struggled in the third quarter and fourth quarters, but made a throw when it was needed in crunch time.
There was some other positive trends I'll get into during the chat. Namely, Daje Johnson running between the tackles and Bergeron being relegated to short yardage back.
Recruiting remains stagnant, but the November evaluation period is underway. Texas has a chance to gain some momentum with a victory over Tech and winnable games against TCU and Iowa State. It's all about momentum in recruiting. Texas continues to recruit OLs Desmond Harrison, Andrew Billings and Caleb Benenoch. WR Robbie Rhodes appears to the only serious skill position target. Defensive recruiting seems to be packing up for 2014. Arizona CB target Cole Luke committed to Notre Dame during the week.
Texas faces Iowa State next week on the third game on the Longhorn Network. I expect a tough challenge from a well coached team, but I believe Texas should win. I'll preview the game during the chat.
