It's not that Texas baseball played bad on Friday or that Kansas State played exceptional, the Horns simply didn't execute when they had their opportunities and the Wildcats did for a 5-2 victory. Hence the six game winning streak ends and Texas must win the next two games to take their second Big 12 series.
The biggest culprit on Friday was the bottom of the lineup as Jacob Felts, Jordan Etier and Collin Shaw combined for an 0-10 with six strikeouts on the night. With Kevin Lusson having been given ample opportunities to regularly contribute and Collin Shaw appearing to be unready for a larger role, look for Augie to experiment with the DH spot.
As a good friend of mine used to say, 'This is a very simple game. You throw the ball, you catch the ball, you hit the ball. Sometimes you win, sometimes you lose, sometimes it rains.' Think about that for a while. In the meantime, Rickey Jacquez looks to rebound from a rough start in Norman and salvage game two. The game starts a 2 PM and is available again on Fox College Sports channel.
