Texas Takes on Texas State

Just a little over a month ago Texas State came to Austin ranked #20 to face a Texas team coming off an embarrassing offensive display against Loyola Marymount (three runs in two games). Despite having won 14 straight against the Bobcats, Texas had to be nervous about being the inferior team. Texas won that game 6-1 and seemingly hasn't looked back since. The bats have cooled off just a bit over the last few weekends, but the Texas team that came into that game and the Texas team that comes into this game are two completely different squads.

Texas State is also different. The Bobcats have lost five straight, including a sweep last weekend at the hands of a surprisingly solid Southeastern Louisiana. Texas State is 20-15 overall and 9-11 since losing to Texas. The Bobcats got swept by a good Sam Houston State squad then rebounded with a pair of wins against a really good Oregon squad. Texas State managed just four hits last time these two teams played, punctuated by four innings of shutout ball from Parker French. Hopefully the Horns can manage similar dominant pitching tonight.

Pitching matchups had not been announced as of our editorial deadline, but join us here as the Horns take on Texas State at 6 PM on the Longhorn Network.
