David Ash set the tone early with his 49-yard touchdown run on 4th and 1, and Texas was never really challenged by a vastly outmanned New Mexico Lobos team coming off three consecutive 1-11 seasons. Picking up where he left off last week, Ash didn't have much going in the downfield passing game, but was in control in every other way, finishing the night 16 of 22 for 228 yards with 2 passing TDs and no turnovers.
The Longhorns' six touchdowns on the game were scored by six different players. Along with Ash, Joe Bergeron and DJ Monroe found the end zone on the ground, while Daje Johnson, Mike Davis, and MJ McFarland scored receiving touchdowns, the latter in the 4th quarter on a pass from Case McCoy, who played well closing out the game.
The Longhorns defense took a little time adjusting to the Lobos' triple option attack, but stood tall any time the ball moved into Texas territory, preserving the shutout and limiting New Mexico to 241 total yards on the night.
More on tonight's game soon, but in the meantime: this is your celebration thread.
