According to one report, the search for a coach to replace Major Applewhite's vacated position ended on Tuesday evening.

Current Arizona State running back coach Larry Porter, also a former head coach at Memphis, will be the next running back coach at Texas, according to a report from Footballscoop.com and confirmed later by Orangebloods.

Texas Longhorns head coach Mack Brown had said before the Alamo Bowl that he was waiting to go after a new running back coach to replace Major Applewhite, explaining why there was so little movement on that front in the days before the game.

Buzz increased throughout the day on Tuesday that Porter could be the guy for the 'Horns and had interviewed on Monday:

Porter is known as an excellent recruiter. How good? Well, he was twice named Recruiter of the Year by Rivals while at LSU (2007 and 2009). Also, he was named Recruiter of the Decade by Rivals in 2011. He was the point man in landing five-star talents like Russell Shepard, Chris Davenport, and Chad Jones. So yeah, he's pretty good at recruiting.

And unlike Major Applewhite, Porter actually played the position, finishing in the top 10 in Memphis history in rushing yards and touchdowns during his time as a Tiger.
