Texas hoops vs. DePaul Game Thread

Tip off at 6:30 CST on ESPNU.

John Rieger-USA TODAY Sports

Texas can advance to 5-1 tonight by beating Big East bottom-feeder DePaul in the consolation game of Kansas City's CBE Classic.

After crunching the numbers and running some advanced basketball algorithms, I have confidently determined that the winner of this game will likely come down to who scores the most points. Though DePaul has struggled scoring recently, Texas hasn't done significantly better. This season, the Longhorns have been able to win almost every game with one player stepping up and putting the game on their shoulders. Luckily, improvement is visible. Whether it is Holmes, Holland, Felix, or Ridley, Texas will definitely need to be on their toes against a Big East opponent like DePaul.

The Blue Demons were embarrassed with atrocious interior play against Wichita State on Monday. Look for Ridley or Ibeh to step up in the paint and have big games. Texas needs to continue winning non-conference games if they're going to want a shot at post season play, because the Big 12 schedule is going to be rough.
