Texas Longhorns at Oklahoma State Cowboys
Saturday, March 2nd | 3:00 pm CT
Television: ESPN
After one of the most thrilling wins in recent memory, the Texas Longhorns take their show on the road. Their reward for an exciting comeback win is a road match-up with one of the best teams in the Big 12, the Oklahoma State Cowboys.
Travis Ford's team, led by freshman sensation Marcus Smart, is very good. Currently holding the third place spot in the conference, the Cowboys are heavy favorites over the visiting Longhorns, with Ken Pomeroy projecting a 14 point OSU win. While Pomeroy's models don't properly account for the effect of Myck Kabongo on this team, the odds of a victory for Texas are still long.
Of course, the odds of coming back from a 22 point deficit with less than eight minutes were also long.
One match-up to look forward to in this game will be the battle between Kabongo and Smart. OSU's star is one of the few players in the conference who is physically capable of matching up with the Texas point guard. Smart is a terrific defender, and we will see if he and the Cowboys can keep Kabongo from getting to the hoop.
Sheldon McClellan seems to have been reborn in the last week, and is back to attacking the rim and getting to the free throw line. Can manage to do it again, in a tough road environment?
The real question for today: will we see a return of the once great Texas defense? Without it, it is hard to imagine Texas pulling the upset against the Cowboys.
