Dillon Peters pitched 7 full innings of no-hit ball before giving up a leadoff double to Oklahoma's Kolbey Carpenter. Corey Knebel cleaned up Peters' 8th inning mess and pitched a perfect 9th to give Texas a huge 1-0 win and set up a winner-take-all Sunday matchup.
Oklahoma's Dillon Overton was as good as advertised, going all 8 innings while allowing just 5 hits and a lone earned run. Peters was better, however, going 7.2 innings, giving up just 2 hits and walking a single Sooner. Texas got its only run in the 5th inning when freshman Ben Johnson singled home freshman Mark Gottsacker.
The Horns are on very thin ice with respect to the NCAA tournament, but a series win over a very good Oklahoma team would go a long way to making that bid a reality.
The series concludes at 2 PM today at UFCUDFF. Game is on Longhorn Network and this will be your open thread.
