Well, this is a pretty good way to start the season. ESPN posted a press release this afternoon that says Time Warner cable subscribers can now access the LHN for tomorrow night's game. This means that Texas football fans can also watch the Ole Miss game on September 14th, easily Texas' biggest home game in recent memory, (Yes, I know about WVU) as well as the Kansas game later on this season. Most importantly, the LHN is now available everywhere in the state of Texas.
A victory for the LHN means that some of us, myself included, might be eating crow this season when it comes to comments we've made about the Longhorn Network. It is, by no stretch of the imagination, fantastic news for Longhorns everywhere.
Longhorn Network launches today for Time Warner Cable video customers in time for kick off against New Mexico State on Saturday, Aug. 31, at 7 p.m. CT live from Darrell K. Royal – Texas Memorial Stadium. The network is available for Time Warner Cable video customers in Texas on its expanded basic cable service. Longhorn Network is available in the greater Austin area on channel 1593 in HD and channel 444 in SD.
”We’re really excited to have reached an agreement that brings Longhorn Network’s programming to Time Warner Cable,” said Andrew Rosenberg, Senior Vice President, Content Acquisition for Time Warner Cable. “We know we count a lot of UT fans among our customers, and we’ve worked hard with our colleagues at ESPN to finalize an agreement in time to bring them tomorrow’s game.”
