As the Texas Longhorns prepare for the 2013 football season, it's worth assessing the entire scholarship chart to take a deeper look into the immediate and distant future for the program at each position.

With three defensive ends committed in the 2014 class and Coppell's Solomon Thomas still on the radar, the Horns have addressed the long-term needs created by missing on the position in the 2014. Redshirting Cottrell and Bluiett last year ensured some depth for the future by making sure that they will be around in 2016 and both players appear that they have a chance to be better college players than expected based on their rankings coming out of high school.
The staff may have to do some work to keep Roberson in the fold, however, as he has made noises on Twitter about wanting to go out of state and tweeted something about a top three that also includes USC and Oregon the other day, though it's hard to tell how serious he is about looking at other schools since he doesn't have much of a filter on social media.
In 2015, Texas probably doesn't need to take more than one defensive end and is currently the leader for Ennis' Jame Lockhart, who is by far the best defensive end in the state for his class and the only real target on the radar at the moment.
And watch for Jake McMillon to become a potential swing player in the future, as he's already on the heavy side for a defensive end and could end up being more effective on the inside.
