Texas bowl projections/selection show open thread

Where will the Longhorns end up for their bowl game?

Matthew Emmons-USA TODAY Sports

After the four lucky teams were selected for the first-ever College Football Playoffs, fans around the country will find out the destinations for their bowl-bound teams.

With TCU and Baylor both kept out of the playoffs, those teams will both play in the New Year's bowls, putting into relief the current issues facing the Big 12, which include the lack of a championship game and the fact that all the talk about "One True Champion" turned out to be complete garbage.

But where will the Texas Longhorns end up?

SB Nation has them in the Texas Bowl against the LSU Tigers, as do both of the ESPN projections and CBS. However, Stewart Mandel of FOX Sports believes that the Horns will face off against their former conference rival, the Arkansas Razorbacks, in the Texas Bowl.

So it looks like Texas will almost certainly end up playing at NRG Stadium in late December in the Texas Bowl, with the opponent representing the only real question mark.
