Texas and Hawaii split a Saturday double header that was finished on Sunday. Hawaii jumped all over Dillon Peters in the early game and cruised to a 6-1 victory that ended after seven innings.
The Horns responded Saturday afternoon, beating Hawaii 3-2 in a game that was suspended Saturday afternoon in the top of the 8th and finished Sunday morning. In the bottom of the 8th Ben Johnson drew a one-out walk, stole second, advanced to third on a groundout and scored on a Kacy Clemens single. Morgan Cooper gave up one walk over two innings but got the save with some clutch pitching.
Texas has now improved to 12-4 on the year and can get a series win Sunday afternoon over a Hawaii team that has proven far tougher than initially thought. The Rainbow Warriors don't have a ton of pitching depth behind their three starters, so hopefully the Texas bats can come alive in the final game.
