Texas A&M has just beaten George Mason 7-3 to clinch at least one more game. That sets the stage for Texas-Rice 4.0. The Horns have won two of the first three but Texas hasn't beaten Rice pitcher Blake Fox yet this year. Actually, nobody has beaten the sophomore Fox. Seriously, he's 18-0 after relieving most of his freshman year and going 12-0 with a 1.38 ERA in 2014.
On the bump for Texas will be Parker French. French went just 1.1 innings in his last start against Kansas State. He then had a dominant relief appearance against Oklahoma State followed by a disastrous one two games later. Texas will need to do something few have done, get some hits off of Fox. They'll also need a good outing from their presumptive ace in French.
Texas needs to win tonight otherwise it's in a deep hole it may not be able to climb out of without Dillon Peters. A win would give them a fighter's chance with Schiraldi on the mound tomorrow.
First pitch will be in 55 minutes. This'll be your open thread. Hook 'em!
