French announced via Twitter this afternoon that he would follow Nathan Thornhill and Mark Payton's example and return to Austin for his senior season. French's presence will give Texas a talented and experienced Friday starter to go along with several talented but inexperienced options to throw on Saturday and Sunday.

French was a 19th round pick of the Detroit Tigers and had little leverage to lose by returning for another run at Omaha. French definitely won't be joined by Lukas Schiraldi who signed with the Seattle Mariners and John Curtiss who signed with the Minnesota Twins. He probably won't be joined by Dillon Peters whose signing with the Florida Marlins seems inevitable.
I'll have a full accounting of what 2015 is looking like after the July 18th signing deadline. Regardless, this is a great development for a Texas baseball program that should find itself competing for a national title again in 2015. Throw in Tres Barrera winning the College Home Run Derby and it was a helluva week for the Horns!
