Eric Davis was born to score buckets. And the shooting guard from Michigan announced on Tuesday evening that he'll be scoring his buckets as a collegian at the University of Texas.
Rick Barnes' first commit from the Class of 2015 is almost as exciting as the commitment from the final member of the Class of 2014, Myles Turner. Davis isn't quite as highly touted as Turner -- a consensus Top 5 player nationally -- but watching Davis's tape, I see an NBA player with lottery pick upside. That's best case scenario, but yeah: I think he's that gifted; he reminds me of a slightly more athletic Jordan Hamilton.
I'll have a full scouting report on Davis in the days ahead, but if you didn't know much about Davis and are looking for permission to get excited: green is for go. Eric Davis would be a great get for any team, and he's an outstanding pick up for Texas and Rick Barnes. Davis can score from anywhere on the court, he's got a fast release, terrific wrist action on his jumper, excellent body control, and Scoring IQ like his name was J'Covan Brown.
Want? Want. And we have him.
