Texas commit Zach Gentry Lights it up.


Recap: They've played in some "epic" football games over the last 5-years, but none like this one. Friday Night the Eldorado Eagles took down No. 1 ranked Mayfield (Las Cruces) in a double overtime instant thriller. The Mayfield Trojans led 21-3 at the half, but in the second half Texas Quarterback Commit Zach Gentry proved why he is one of the best, not only in New Mexico, but one of the best in the Nation busting not one, but two touchdown runs of over 80-yards to bring Eldorado back to life. The two teams traded touchdown for touchdown in the second half in a game that turned into a track meet, then turned into overtime at 35-all. Eldorado scored first when Zach Gentry scored his 5th touchdown of the game to make it 42-35. Mayfield tied it at 42, then Mayfield took the lead when Isaac Vance punched it in to make it 49-42 Mayfield. Gentry would score his 6th touchdown of the game to make it 49-48, Eldorado called a timeout and went for 2 and the win. Zach Gentry plowed over a few linemen and crossed the end-zone to make it 50-49. Gentry finished with 272-yards passing and 291-yards rushing and 6 touchdowns. Mayfield's Kavaika Johnson scored 4 touchdowns and had over 250-yards of offense.
