DT Du'Vonta Lampkin signs with the Texas Longhorns

Lampkin signed his national letter of intent on Wednesday, officially making him a member of the University of Texas class of 2019.

Houston Cypress Falls High defensive tackle Du'Vonta Lampkin signed his national letter of intent on Wednesday, officially making him a Texas Longhorn.

The four-star defensive tackle was the 48th best player in the state of Texas and the 344th best player nationally, according to 247's composite rankings. The 6-foot-3, 291-pound Lampkin committed to the Longhorns in late July.

Lampkin picked Texas over LSU and Oklahoma. He also held offers from Baylor, UCLA, Arizona State and Louisville.

His BON recruiting profile tags him as a potential rotation player:

At 6'3 and 291 pounds, Lampkin has ideal size for the position and isn't far from a weight where he could contribute as a nose tackle if the coaches feel he doesn't have enough gap-penetrating ability to play there. Additionally, he also has the strength to hold up at the point of attack to make such a move feasible.

Lampkin has been actively recruiting other potential Longhorns on Twitter.
