Texas loaded the bases in the 4th, 6th and 9th and three times failed to drive any of those runs home in a 5-4 loss. Stanford meanwhile hit a three-run homer and a solo shot while Texas left a total of 14 men on base. Ben Johnson hit a pair of homers but it was ultimately for naught on a night when the Horns outhit Stanford, walked six fewer batters and had no errors compared to two for the Tree. Texas hitters struck out 13 times on the night including two from the suddenly struggling Collin Shaw (0 for his last 8 with 5 Ks).
For the record, the four runs Texas scored last night are more than they scored in Palo Alto over the entire series in 2013. So that's good. The Horns and Cardinal return to action tonight at 8 PM. There's a live stream here as the Horns look to even the series with Stanford.
