Texas Drops Fourth Straight 5-3; Saturday Open Thread

Texas jumped out to a 3-0 lead but the bullpen couldn't hold on. Texas will need to win the next two to split the series.

Taylor Stell got his first base hit since 2013 on Friday night and it was a doozy, a three run bomb to left field that put Texas up 3-0 early. Kacy Clemens gave two of those runs back right away but left with one out in the sixth inning with the lead untouched.

Some nights Augie's bullpen moves will work like gold, other times they'll work like they did last night. Kirby Bellow replaced Clemens and promptly gave up a pair of runs. Kyle Johnston came on in the 8th and lasted two outs before being replaced by Ty Culbreth who allowed one of the two inherited base runners to score.

The Texas offense hasn't been terrible but it hasn't been great in Palo Alto. Texas will have to win the next two to even the series. Game three begins today at 4 PM. Josh Sawyer is on the mound.
