Texas Takes on Wichita State

Texas returns home in desperate need of a win.

Jasen Vinlove-USA TODAY Sports

Texas baseball is in trouble and desperately needs a win today over the Wichita State Shockers. Wichita State owes us one for going after Shaka Smart instead of Gregg Marshall, right?

Interestingly, Wichita State is one of the few teams in the country to have a winning record against Texas. They're 2-3 with all five games coming in Omaha. The last time these two schools met on the baseball diamond was 1993 when the Horns were beaten 7-6 in the second game of the CWS. The seniors on this team were in diapers when the Horns last played the Shockers.

This is just a random midweek game in the middle of the Big 12 season yet the stakes have never been higher for Augie Garrido. Texas is in a nosedive and desperately needs to pull out. They can begin to accomplish this tonight or throw more dirt on the grave that is the 2015 baseball season.

First pitch is at 7 PM. Hook 'em.
