Texas Takes on Texas Tech

That faint sound you hear is the heartbeat of the Texas baseball season. A sweep of Tech will keep it beating.

Steven Branscombe-USA TODAY Sports

Texas beat a really bad Prairie View A&M on Tuesday and somehow the Horns managed to find itself tied 4-4 in the middle of a game in which they had not given up a hit. Prairie View managed only one hit all game.

Texas finds itself one game above .500 with only 7 games to go. The only realistic shots the Horns have for the postseason are winning out and a good Big 12 tournament showing or winning the tournament.

Texas Tech comes to town having lost four straight including a pair to Oklahoma State and a pair to Grand Canyon. Tech needs a solid finish to the season to ensure a postseason bid, so Texas will have its work cut out for it.

As an aside, CJ Hinojosa's year at Texas (and possibly his career) may be done. If so, he'll have concluded a solid if somewhat underwhelming career on the 40 Acres. Hopefully that's not the case though.

First pitch is at 7 PM on the Longhorn Network. Hook 'em.
