An in-person evaluation by offensive coordinator/offensive line coach Joe Wickline resulted in a Texas Longhorns offer on Thursday evening for Arlington Bowie offensive guard Tope Imade:
Imade was on the fringe of receiving an offer ever since Texas offensive guard target Chris Owens committed to Alabama nearly a month ago and the patience finally paid off. Linebackers coach Brian Jean-Mary, the area recruiter for Arlington, stopped by Bowie in late April.
The consensus three-star prospect is the No. 950 recruit overall, the No. 43 offensive guard, and the No. 119 prospect in Texas. Other offers include Illinois, Kansas State, Miami, Michigan, Texas Tech, Washington.
Some good news for the Longhorns? Getting Imade on campus in the near future isn't a massive priority, since he already took the initiative to visit for the Orange-White game in April, even though he didn't hold an offer at the time.
There are not currently any predictions for Imade in the 247Sports Crystal Ball, so he's still considered quite open in his recruitment.
Imade has the height of a tackle at 6'5, but the mass of an offensive guard at 327 pounds. Not quite as mobile as Owens or Denzel Okafor, Imade nonetheless has a great deal of strength that benefits him significantly in the running game.
