Though the Texas Longhorns staff has worked to push back some official vsiits in the last several days, there will be a large contingent of recruits in Austin when the Longhorns take on the Rice Owls Saturday evening.
With the recent coaching changes following the debacle in South Bend last weekend, how the game goes could have a greater impact than typical on the recruits -- Texas can't afford to play a close-fought game or lose to Rice in Austin for the first time since 1965.
Here's a look at some of the recruits who are expected to be in attendance:
- Arlington Lamar quarterback Shane Buechele (Texas commit)
- Sachse quarterback Jalen Mayden (2018)
- San Jose (Calif.) Valley Christian wide receiver Collin Johnson (Texas commit)
- Manvel wide receiver Reggie Hemphill (Texas commit)
- New Orleans (La.) Brother Martin tight end Peyton Aucoin (Texas commit)
- Bullard tight end Major Tennison (2017)
- Cy Creek offensive tackle Grayson Reed (2017)
- Destrehan (La.) defensive tackle Gerald Wilbon (Texas commit)
- Houston Westfield defensive tackle Jordan Elliott
