Texas vs. Rice gamethread

Can the Longhorns avoid the program's first loss against the Owls at home since 1965?

On the 53-year anniversary of president John F. Kennedy asking "Why does Texas play Rice?" during a 1962 speech in Houston, the Rice Owls will attempt to beat the Texas Longhorns at home for only the second time since then.

It's probably safe to say that rarely have Texas fans been this nervous for a game against Rice.

But there's a new offensive play caller and the potential to see more of redshirt freshman quarterback Jerrod Heard. Continued growth from the 15 freshmen who played last week. Especially freshman linebacker Malik Jefferson. He's still at Texas and belives in the opportunity after the future.

At the least, it should go better than the last home game.
