President Greg Fenves introduced Texas Longhorns interin athletic director Mike Perrin as the replacement for Steve Patterson on Wednesday morning in a press conference at the Tower.
Recalling the first time that visited Texas for a football practice in 1964, Perin said he's never forgotten the electricity and the feeling evoked by seeing Darrell K Royal and the Longhorns putting in work.
"I hope I never do," he said.
He's concerned with the lack of support for the football program -- about 11,000 tickets remain for the game against Cal this weekend -- and said that he wants to connect with Texas fans in an effort to repair the damage down by Patterson.
"I intend to reach out to the entire Longhorn nation," Perrin said. "I want to be a source of interface for all aspects of the Longhorn nation."
