Texas graduate transfer C Jake Raulerson to take Oregon official visit

Losing the team's prospective starting center still stings.

It doesn't look as if Texas Longhorns graduate transfer center Jake Raulerson is ready to reconsider his decision to continue his career elsewhere after announcing an upcoming official visit on Thursday:

Since the Ducks emphasize recruiting mobile offensive linemen, this looks like a good fit for the 6'4, 295-pounder.

Raulerson will have two seasons of eligibility remaining after announcing his intention to transfer back in early December, days before Texas hired offensive line coach/running game coordinator Matt Mattox and offensive coordiantor Sterlin Gilbert from Tulsa.

The addition of the much more personable Mattox and subsequent termination of Joe Wickline sparked speculation that Mattox could perhaps convince Raulerson to rethink his decision, especially since the depth chart at center is wide open with the departure of senior Taylor Doyle and absence of any other experienced competition at the position.

Unfortunately, it appears the the Longhorns will have to move forward and find a solution other than the former US Army All-American.
