The outspoken nature of Texas Longhorns Fox end Breckyn Hager got the better of him on Monday, as the sophomore responded to a question about the defense’s mission this week against the Texas Tech Red Raiders by noting that the intent is to “injure that quarterback.”
Apparently Hager made the comment multiple times.
Red Raiders star Patrick Mahomes aggravated his shoulder injury late in the win against the Horned Frogs this weekend.
His father quickly responded to Hager’s unacceptable comment:
Are you kidding meRT @RickyDoyle: Hager on the Texas D's mission this week: "Injure that quarterback."— pat mahomes (@PMahomes) October 31, 2016
The former major league pitcher has had his own contentious stretch over the last few days — he was arrested for public intoxication at the TCU game for “acting belligerent” in the stands. Another fan was also arrested in the incident.
The bottom line, however?
Hager has to learn to play a little more under control on the field and watch his comments in press conferences — talking about wanting to injure opponents goes over the line.
