Make no mistake — though it didn’t always show up in results on the field, the Texas Longhorns players loved former head coach Charlie Strong.
With Tom Herman announced as Strong’s replacement on Saturday, Longhorns players are adjusting to the new reality.
Unsurprisingly, sophomore linebacker Malik Jefferson had the perfect take:
Words can't describe how thankful I am to have played for you, you've set the foundation to something great and we have finish it. #Thankyou pic.twitter.com/VyLaCDRgB8

Jefferson is absolutely correct — beyond the need to be all in for the new head coach, the best way that core Strong guys like Jefferson can honor the lessons they learned from their former head coach is by building on the base Strong built.
Call it a foundation or call it a cake that is baked and only needs icing and slicing, as Strong said in the wake of his final game at Texas, it adds up to the same thing.
Let’s just say it’s time to ice and slice.
