Shaka Smart is turning the Texas basketball program into a serious contender on the national stage.

The Horns need to channel their inner Quandre. Texas needs to reach down deep and embrace their inner nastiness to get through the last four games.

Malik Jefferson is returning to his old form. “Him bouncing back the other night shows his character,” Strong said. “I told him that’s what I expect from (him) all the time, and he understands that because of who he is. He knows how important he is to this team and how important he is to the defense to play well every week.”

TE Andrew Beck finds ways to contribute. Beck was recruited as linebacker but was moved to tight end. “We’re a bunch of guys that weren’t recruited as tight ends that are now playing tight end,” Beck said. “We all complement each other very well. We keep each other in line, but we have a good time.”

The men’s basketball team had an impressive win over San Angelo State. All of the freshmen had impressive debuts and double-digit figures with a combined total of 62 points.
