Charlie Strong said he would improve Texas’ defense and he did just that.

Strong is focused on the finish, not a bowl game. “We haven’t even talked about a bowl,” said Strong, who has a combined mark of 16-18 in three seasons at the school. “We’ve got three key games left. We’re looking to end the year the right way and play better in each and every game.”

D’Onta Foreman almost ended up at Missouri.

Texas is usually lucky the week of a presidential election. “Texas has a 21-9 record when playing the week of or immediately following a presidential election dating back to when the football team formed in 1893.”

The NCAA will not pursue Penn St-like punishment against Baylor. “The National Collegiate Athletic Association has notified Baylor that it won’t exert its executive authority to impose sweeping sanctions against the school for broad institutional failings, and will instead follow its normal investigative process, according to people familiar with the matter.”

ESPN is hemorrhaging subscribers. “At the end of October, Nielsen released its monthly television subscriber numbers report, and it showed a loss of 621,000 subscribers for ESPN and similar losses for ESPN2 and ESPNU.”
