Inside linebacker is a position of need for the Texas Longhorns, so it was hardly a surprise on Sunday when new head coach Tom Herman offered Houston Cougars commit Marqez Bimage, the prospect announced on Twitter.
The Brenham product plays defensive end in high school, but is projected as an inside linebacker at the next level.
Houston earned a commitment from Bimage a year ago and he’s held firm during that time despite picking up offers from Cal, Kansas State, and LSU. The only visit reported on his 247Sports profile since his pledge was a trip up the road to College Station.
Given that Bimage could compete for early playing time due to a dearth of inside linebackers and would likely play for current Houston defensive coordinator Todd Orlando, Texas seemingly has a good chance of flipping him.
In fact, there were already three 247Sports Crystal Balls predictions for the ‘Horns before Bimage picked up his offer.
A consensus three-star prospect, the 6’3, 233-pounder is ranked as the No. 694 player nationally, the No. 25 inside linebacker, and the No. 98 player in Texas, according to the 247Sports Composite rankings.
