Daily Round Up: What Went Wrong With Charlie?

Lack of depth, lack of discipline....where should we start?

What went wrong with Charlie? “Strong punished half a dozen players (dismissing at least three) before even coaching a game at Texas. That's part of the cleaning-up process, which schools like to tout. The problem is, that leads to a lack of depth, which leads to losses (see: Muschamp, Will).”

Tom Herman is set up to win immediately. “The majority of the starters last season were freshmen and sophomores, meaning those guys will be experienced sophomores and juniors when the 2017 season starts. In other words, Herman doesn’t have to start over from scratch.”

Lane Kiffen was hired at FAU, Charlie Strong took the job at USF and now the state of Florida is loaded with coaching talent.

Major Applewhite is the new head coach at Houston.

At least Strong doesn’t have to learn a new hand sign.

2016 Heisman Trophy winner Lamar Jackson’s jacket was the real winner.
