Just hours after decommitting from Georgia, four-star running back Toneil Carter has committed to Tom Herman and the Texas Longhorns, Carter announced via Twitter:

The in-state prospect out of Houston’s Langham Creek committed to Georgia in July over offers including Texas A&M, LSU and Notre Dame, but backed out of his pledge just weeks before he was set to enroll early, which Carter will now do at Texas.

Though landing a 2017 running back wasn’t an absolute must for most of the cycle, it became more of a priority with D’Onta Foreman departing to the NFL, considering Chris Warren III and Kirk Johnson have battled with various injuries.

Carter’s commitment marks the second of the Herman era and pushes Texas’ 2017 class up to nine total commits.

Carter ranks as the the nation’s No. 7 running back and the No. 21 player in Texas.
