Teased though it was, the commitment of 4-star Kay running back Kyle Porter to the Texas Longhorns over the TCU Horned Frogs and Arkansas Razorbacks -- through a teammate, no less -- came as nothing less than a major surprise hours before more than a dozen other Longhorns targets are set to make final decisions on National Signing Day.
Needless to say, it set off something of a frenzy on the Texas interwebs, with numerous commits and players reacting on Twitter.
Who else to lead off with but linebacker Malik Jefferson? His decision to pick the Longhorns in December of 2014 and help with the huge finish in the 2015 class making this all possible. Malikmas is truly the gift that keeps on giving. And will keep on giving. Every day is Malikmas:

So, who is a better closer? Jefferson or head coach Charlie Strong? In about 24 hours, the answer may prove to be both.

Wide receiver commit Reggie Hemphill-Mapps, who has been teasing the silent commits that have seemingly been proving accurate, had a simple offering:

Understated, but elegant in simplicity.

Along with cornerstones like left tackle Connor Williams and right guard Patrick Vahe, that's the future of the Texas offensive line right there (from left to right) -- Zach Shackelford, Delance, offensive line coach/running game coordinator Matt Mattox, Tope Imade, and Denzel Okafor. It looks like a bright one.
Here's Shackelford with more:
I BELIEVE we just got the best running back in Texas

Even 2016 Houston safety commit Collin Wilder is on board with the Longhorns now because Katy kids roll like that:
My brother KP is gonna be in Austin. They're getting not only a good player but a better leader. I'm for sure a big Hook Em fan now
