Texas Longhorns to host high-profile visitors for Orange-White game

New, comments

Saturday's scrimmage marks the last big recruiting event of the spring for the Longhorns.

Wescott Eberts (SB Nation)

Every year, top recruits from around the state of Texas head to Darrell K Royal-Texas Memorial Stadium to watch the Texas Longhorns scrimmage in the Orange-White game and the 2016 version on Saturday is expected to feature consensus five-star prospect Baron Browning and numerous other important Texas targets.

Along with Browning, the Kennedale star who recently announced his plans to become an early enrollee next January, the other huge prospect who plans to be in attendance is Plano East linebacker Anthony Hines, another key target who is thought to have the Longhorns in a favorable position. Like Browning, Hines visited for the Junior Day in late February.

Two of the key attendees are Texas commits -- Tyler John Tyler wide receiver Damion Miller and Bullard tight end Major Tennison. Miller has been open about the fact that he's considering other schools, including Texas A&M, which hosted Miller for the school's own spring game last weekend, while Tennison has recently taken trips to Alabama and Michigan.

Here is the expected visitor list, but keep in mind that some prospects, like Texas defensive end commit Lagaryonn Carson, may have rides fall through or otherwise have their plans change at the last minute:

  • Austin Westlake quarterback Sam Ehlinger (Texas commit)
  • Sachse quarterback Jalen Mayden (2018)
