Texas 'made a big move' during CB Kary Vincent's Thursday visit

Who wouldn't want to play defensive back at DBU for Charlie Strong?

The son of a former Texas A&M Aggies wide receiver may seriously considering suiting up for the burnt orange and white, as Port Arthur Memorial cornerback Kary Vincent visited the Texas Longhorns on Thursday and the 'Horns "made a big move" with the consensus four-star prospect, according to ESPN's Gerry Hamilton.

Vincent didn't tweet anything about his visit ahead of the state track meet this weekend, but he did retweet the Friday news from Hamilton, which may or may not be an endorsement. Texas offered the 5'11, 170-pounder in late February, more than a month before Texas A&M. Early February marked the sharp rise in Vincent's stock -- since then, Arkansas, Missouri, Ole Miss, Arizona State, Michigan State, Ohio State, Michigan, Mississippi State, Florida, Penn State, Notre Dame, Oregon, Arizona, LSU, and Florida State all offered.

Despite those family ties to Texas A&M, the consensus at this point is that Vincent is relatively wide open, with several predictions for TCU in his 247Sports Crystal Ball, one for Texas, and GigEm247 recruiting analyst Taylor Hamm opening up his own prediction in late March.

With a possible move with Vincent, a recent surge with Dallas Biship Dunne's Chevin Calloway, the state's top cornerback, and commit Kobe Boyce's invite to The Opening Finals this week, recruiting at cornerback for the 'Horns is headed in an good direction as Vincent collects offers and moves up in the rankings, including a No. 25 placement nationally by ESPN. And while it seems rather silly to rank Vincent ahead of superstar linebacker Baron Browning, it is indication that the 2017 cornerback class in Texas now looks a little better than it did several months ago.

If Texas can finish Strong and the position and make any type of progress at safety, the future of DBU will look quite promising.
