Texas Longhorns offer 4-star WR Devonta Smith

In an effort to find explosive playmakers in the 2016 class, the Texas Longhorns turned towards Louisiana on Monday, extending an offer to Amite product Devonta Smith:

As a five-star prospect by 247Sports ranked as the No. 12 player nationally, Smith's recruitment is already well advanced -- he holds 20 offers from a number of national programs and released his top 10 last week:

So Texas clearly has some ground to make up on schools that have already been recruiting the 6'1, 160-pounder for a much longer period of time. The leading contender among those 10 programs is Alabama, which holds all 13 predictions in Smith's 247Sports Crystal Ball predictions.
