Texas reportedly interested in Baylor OL signee Patrick Hudson and CB signee Parrish Cobb

As the fallout of the Baylor Bears scandal continues, the 2016 signing class could suffer significant attrition in the coming days, with multiple reports now circulating that Silbsee offensive lineman Patrick Hudson will not enroll in Waco on Monday. And, according to the Football Brainiacs, the Texas Longhorns are interested in Hudson and fellow Baylor signee Parrish Cobb, a cornerback from Waco La Vega.

In addition to Hudson, Port Arthur Memorial running back Kameron Martin won't enroll, either. Texas offered Martin and pursued him throughout the process, but he reacted in an extremely public and extremely negative manner when Longhorns running backs coach Tommie Robinson left Texas to return to USC. So don't expect the 'Horns to target him with an exceptionally deep group of running backs already in the fold.

With a pressing need along the offensive line, Hudson could be a huge addition to the Longhorns -- the 6'5.5, 325-pounder is the No. 2 offensive guard in the country, according to the 247Sports Composite rankings, and the No. 50 player overall. A possible right tackle or guard, the 2016 Under Armour All-American would have a chance to contribute early in Austin.

Hudson seriously considered Texas late in the process and was supposed to announce a decision on the morning of National Signing Day, but his National Letter of Intent was faxed to Baylor earlier than his planned announcement. The Texas staff had shosted Hudson on a multi-day visit in January and connected him with another Silsbee native, former wresting star and noted powerlfiter Mark Henry, who has deep ties to Texas, though he never attended the school.

Prior to signing with Baylor, Hudson was also interested in Texas A&M and Georgia, the two schools that would seem to represent the most serious competition for Texas.

As for Cobb, he was a longtime Oklahoma commit who at one point planned on visiting Austin before National Signing Day, but that trip never came to pass. A consensus four-star prospect who is the cousin of 2016 Texas signee Eric Cuffee, Cobb would be a nice addition to the class because there are questions about whether Cuffee can play cornerback, which would leave the class without a player at the position.

However, it is not yet clear whether the NCAA or Baylor will grant players a release from their respective NLIs. If not, they would have to sit out a year as transfers.
