With head coach Brian Kelly leading the Notre Dame Fighting Irish back to prominence, the traditional powerhouse has become a formidable foe for the Texas Longhorns to recruit against, as further evidenced by the Monday commitment of Mansfield athlete Paulson Adebo to the Fighting Irish:

The consensus four-star prospect announced his decision following a March Junior Day visit to South Bend. Last month, Adebo picked up an offer from Texas, but it wasn’t enough to impact his recruitment.
The 6’0, 180-pounder will play cornerback for the Irish, the same position that the ‘Horns wanted him to play in Austin.
Adebo is ranked as the No. 254 player overall, the No. 16 athlete, and the No. 36 player in Texas, according to the 247Sports Composite rankings. He holds 20 total offers.
Texas currently has one commitment at the cornerback position — Lake Dallas standout Kobe Boyce — and has been making a position impression on Texas A&M legacy Kary Vincent and Dallas Bishop Dunne’s Chevin Calloway. Texas hasn’t extended any other offers to in-state players at the position.
