Although Texas was believed to have a solid say in the final outcome in four-star wide receiver Mannie Netherly’s recruitment—headlined by quarterback Sam Ehlinger urging the Crosby product to join him in Austin—LSU ultimately landed Netherly over Texas, Texas A&M and Alabama, among others.

Although Netherly’s Crystal Ball heavily favored the Tigers, his commitment doesn’t come as a bit of a surprise. After recently cutting his list to six schools, Netherly told Horns247 that Texas was “on top” for him. Additionally, there was a bit of speculation brought about by Ehlinger that gave reason to believe the Longhorns may be on the receiving end of Netherly’s commitment when that time came.
Obviously, LSU swung things dramatically in its favor as of late, earning the commitment of the nation’s No. 29 wide receiver. But of course, until Netherly signs a LOI, nothing is set in stone.
