For the Texas Longhorns, part of the Athletics Master Plan released in late May includes renovations to the weight rooms for the football teams. And while it's not clear whether that means full-scale renovations or just minor improvements, the 'Horns already have a new flooring in the weight room:
While the flooring in the weight room isn't the sexiest development that will happen over the next few years around campus, it is something that will make a difference for the football players.
The previous weight room floor had been in place since the 1990s and was a 1/4-inch rubber surface laid on top of concrete. #HookEm— Longhorn_FB (@Longhorn_FB) June 7, 2016
The new 12,622 square foot Regupol Aktiv flooring is much more forgiving and responsive for the student-athletes #HookEm— Longhorn_FB (@Longhorn_FB) June 7, 2016
Along with the new flooring, the new lifting platforms will be inlaid within the flooring system providing a safer, flush layout in the room— Longhorn_FB (@Longhorn_FB) June 7, 2016
The wood platforms are being replaced by a dense, rubber surface to make them much safer and more functional. #HookEm— Longhorn_FB (@Longhorn_FB) June 7, 2016
Summer workouts started at Texas on Monday with the arrival of most of the remaining members of the 2016 recruiting class for the first summer session.
