It’s never to early to get involved with some of the nation’s premier basketball talent and Shaka Smart’s Texas Longhorns did just that today by offering 2019 small forward Joey Baker.

Despite having only his freshman season under his belt, Baker has become one of the name’s to know in his class, having already picked up five offers. The last couple weeks, in particular, are reason to take note of where many expect this kid’s talent level to be after high school, as Tennessee offered Baker June 18, he unofficially visited Kentucky June 19 and as of today, the Longhorns are now in the mix.
With three more seasons to place his stamp on the high school recruiting scene, we’re seeing only the beginning of a recruitment that will likely become a battle of college basketball’s bluebloods, and if Smart gets his way, Texas will have a say in the matter, as well.
