Shane Buechele works out with Texas legend Colt McCoy

Friday nights are for work.

It may be Friday night, but that’s just another evening at the Texas Longhorns football facilities for freshman quarterback Shane Buechele, who posted an Instagram picture at the Bubble with legendary Longhorns passer Colt McCoy:

Learning from a legend #hookem

The likely starter at quarterback for Texas, Buechele is often compared to McCoy because of their similar stature, accuracy, and approach to the game.

But McCoy never had as much hype accompany his ascent as the heir to Vince Young — he was the redshirt freshman with modest expectations as a former three-star recruit competing against the blue-chip true freshman, Jevan Snead.

The rest, as they say, is history, and McCoy is now passing along some of the wisdom that he learned from that competition and his four productive years as a starter that set the then-NCAA record for wins by a quarterback in a career.

And there is one thing that seems obvious — Buechele will soak up as much from McCoy as humanly possible. That’s just how he rolls.
