A big visit weekend for the Texas Longhorns with the Under the Lights camp going down on Saturday evening will turn into a big visit week with the Sunday evening news that Houston Episcopal defensive tackle Marvin Wilson will visit Austin on Tuesday with his mother, according to multiple reports.
So head coach Charlie Strong will be able to spend some key face time with Wilson’s mother, as he considers targeting and recruiting the parents during such meetings as more important than his pitch to the recruit himself.
The nation’s No. 1 defensive tackle and third-ranked player overall according to the 247Sports Composite rankings recently made the Final Five defensive linemen at The Opening Finals and earned recognition as the Defensive Line MVP.
Currently working on developing secondary moves to his favored bullrush, Wilson last visited Texas for a practice in April just prior to the Orange and White game. In June, he included the ‘Horns among his top 10 schools, as expected, though the general belief is that the LSU Tigers and Florida State Seminoles are still the leaders.
But since Wilson said in Oregon that he doesn’t plan on taking any more visits this summer, Strong and his staff have a chance to make an important impression in the wake of big additions to the program like the four former Baylor Bears signees.
