With only 22 days until the Texas Longhorns open the season by hosting the Notre Dame Fighting Irish, defensive end/outside linebacker signee Erick Fowler is still not yet on campus after completing his summer school work last week.

On Saturday, head coach Charlie Strong confirmed reports that the 2016 US Army All-American is now waiting on a ruling from the NCAA Clearinghouse.

"It had to go to the Clearinghouse," Strong said. "As soon as we get everything cleared up then he'll be able to start."

Fowler and his family have expressed optimism in recent weeks that the final remaining 2016 signee to arrive on the Forty Acres would be able to gain his eligibility after finishing summer school.

In June, the nation’s No. 7 outside linebacker said he received the test scores that he needed to qualify.

A consensus four-star prospect ranked as the No. 74 nationally in the 247Sports Composite rankings, Fowler flipped to Texas from LSU on National Signing Day, prompting a dab from Strong.
