According to multiple reports, five-star Houston Lamar cornerback Anthony Cook will visit Texas September 4 for the Longhorns’ season opener against Notre Dame.
Ranked as the 2018’s No. 3 cornerback in the country and No. 2 player in Texas, the 6’1, 168-pound junior has compiled 25 offers from around the country, including LSU, Alabama, Ohio State, Clemson and Florida State. Cook added his Texas offer following a Longhorns summer camp June 5. Though the in-state product could essentially play for any college in the nation, LSU and Texas appearing to be the frontrunners suggests a program’s ability to recruit and develop defensive backs at a tremendously high level before sending them to the NFL is a priority. That said, for Texas, the secondary’s expected step forward in 2016 could take Texas a long way in Cook’s recruitment.
